No matter how much you love writing there’ll always be days when you need inspiration from one muse or another. In fact, what once seemed like a passion filled calling can turn into a bit of slog after a while.
We writers know a contradiction too well. Wanting to write so badly, but lacking the necessary inspiration to get started or keep going. Ugh! That’s so real. Simply waiting around for inspiration to strike isn’t a viable option, but neither is forcing something on to the page just for the sake of writing.
Every writer needs to find inspiration in order to produce an inspired writing. This is definitely easier said than done. Believe me, I even find myself stuck with my writing quite often.
Anyone else been there? A month has passed, and you’ve made zero progress on your writing goals? If so, don’t worry. It could be just one of those days. How about trying one of the suggestions below that can be stimulating and help you out of that creative rut?
If you’re looking for inspiration, trawling some good forums isn’t a bad idea. There are many online forums where you can connect with fellow writers. Forums are about writing to convey information, ideas, and those ideas can be beautiful and inspiring in and of themselves.
My personal favorite overall. Reading is a great way to reignite your creativity. Reading something different can also help kick-start your inspiration. It gives you a fresh perspective, making it easier to come up with new ideas.
Write about what you observe
Stuck for ideas? Just start writing anything under your observation. It doesn’t matter. Writing about what you see helps put you in the present moment and works on your attention to detail. If you are lacking inspiration, picking something you observe is a good place to start.
Another favorite of mine. There are dozens of great blogs providing great content and updates every once in a while. Most of them don’t know me. I like to read my fellow followers blogs in the blogosphere. Reading other peoples blog inspires me to action!
If you have been struggling with motivation to write, give yourself a 20 minutes break. An hour maybe or a couple days if that’s what it takes to recuperate. Just make sure you get enough rest and take a break when need to.
History can inspire you to write because there are so many great people and things throughout history, which you can look up to for inspiration. When you find a part really interesting, which really speaks to, you look deeper.
Well, every writers has their own source of inspiration probably. For me personally, reading does wonders. The works of other writers inspires me so much. I love to take notes when I’m reading anything interesting. I guess even history works for me. And a well told history is beautiful too. I also do my best thinking when I can’t sleep in the middle of the night or when I’m away from my laptop. I sometimes practically write an entire piece in my head before I actually sit down to type it out.
If you are lacking the inspiration to write, try one or two of these suggestions. You may be pleasantly surprised with the results. I use some of them myself and I hope this list will be helpful for other writers as well.
Have a good day and see y’all in my next post! 🙂
